Lobbying on Capitol Hill Was Not on My Bingo Card

What began as a trip to Washington for the inaugural Healthcare Revenue Leadership Summit became an unexpected opportunity to participate in advocacy on Capitol Hill. Through conversations with healthcare and policy leaders and meetings with congressional offices, Roxanne reflects on law from a different vantage point: not simply as something attorneys interpret after it exists, but as the product of people, persuasion, expertise, disagreement and participation.

Why We Write

Law does not operate in a vacuum. Neither do businesses.

The strongest legal counsel requires understanding the people, industries, institutions, technologies, relationships and decisions surrounding the law.    A contract does not exist apart from the business relationship it governs.        An employment issue does not exist apart from the people and culture involved. A risk does not exist apart from the goals it might interrupt.

Insights is where Zhilo Law explores those connections. Not every piece will be a legal update. Some will be about leadership, entrepreneurship, institutions, history or the world in which businesses and their people operate. That breadth is intentional.

Zhilo Law is interested not only in what the law says, but in the context in which businesses, leaders and institutions make decisions. The thinking here reflects that.
